The Ambassador of Cuba in Qatar, Armando Vergara
Bueno, intervened on behalf of his country to
the Third Conference of States Parties to the UN
Convention against Corruption, held from 9 to 13
November in Doha, where he highlighted efforts
deployed and sustained work made by Cuba in the
implementation of commitments as a State Party
of the Convention, in the midst of severe
economic crisis affecting all countries and the
criminal blockade imposed against the island for
nearly 50 years.
In his remarks to the plenary, Ambassador
Vergara Bueno, highlighted the changes in the
management of this area on the island, including
the creation of the General Comptroller's Office
of the Republic, through the Law 107 adopted by
the National Assembly of the People's Powers
that emphasizes the function of controlling and
protecting public funds with due hierarchical
order and authority.
At the same time, He claimed that corruption has
become a global phenomenon of mankind, which is
of characteristics that go beyond national
borders, reason why it requires solutions at the
same level, and reiterated the firm commitment
of Cuba to continue strengthening the fight
against corruption at the national and
international level to reverse this scourge. |
