Havana,
Jun 16 (AIN) The results of the 2nd South Summit of the 77
Group and China, were considered successful and supporting the
unity of the Third World.
Maria Caridad
Balaguer, member of the Cuban delegation at the meeting,
stated that the encounter reaffirmed the continuity of the
Final Declaration and the Program of Action adopted by the
G-77 in its 1st Summit in April 2000 in Havana.
The Cuban official, in an interview for the
Cuban Television, said that the forum has been very well
attended, including about 30 Heads of State and
Governments.
Balaguer explained that this
organization of 132 nations and China declared itself in favor
of multilateralism in the new international situation, where a
unipolar superpower (United States) is trying to impose its
designs on the world.
"We ratify the
importance, also, of placing a greater emphasis on the
development of the process of reformation of the UN
Organization," the Cuban representative remarked. She also
added that a message had been sent to the next ministerial
meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO), also scheduled
in Qatar's capital, to boost the development and interests of
the South in those multilateral trade
negotiations.
"As an important element for Cuba,
the economic, commercial and financial
blockade of the US government against Cuba was categorically
condemned," the specialist affirmed.
The 2nd
South Summit closed Thursday with the approval of the two main
documents of the meeting: the Political Declaration and the
Plan of
Action. (AIN) June 16 2005 |
