As reported timely, on 19 February 2010, was
held in Havana a new round of migration talks
with the United States Government.
As during the round held in New York during this
exchange is discussed other issues. This time
the delegation of Cuba reiterated the proposals
made in July to the U.S., regarding cooperation
in confronting drug trafficking, terrorism and
human trafficking, to protect the environment
and cope with natural disasters. In particular,
we express our readiness to conclude with the
Government of the United States a deal to
confront the drug trafficking, based on the
project recently presented by Cuba in January
2010, through diplomatic channels.
Additionally, the delegation of Cuba reiterated
the key issues to be addressed in a possible
process of dialogue aimed to improve the
relations: the lifting of the economic,
commercial and financial blockade; the exclusion
of Cuba from the spurious list of terrorist
countries, the abrogation of the Cuban
Adjustment Act and the policy of 'wet foot-dry
foot' compensation for economic and human
damage, the return of territory occupied by the
Guantanamo Naval Base, the end of radio and
television aggression from the United States
against Cuba , and the cessation of funding to
internal subversion.
The Cuban delegation discussed thoroughly, as an
essential theme in the agenda the request for
release of five Cuban anti-terrorists who
suffer, for eleven years, unjustly imprisoned in
the United States for combating terrorism.
Contrary to the spirit of cooperation and
understanding shown by the Cuban side, having
carried out the migration talks, the American
delegation drew tens of mercenaries who even
carried to the residence of the head of the USIS,
proving again that its priorities relate more
with support to the counterrevolution and the
promotion of subversion to overthrow the Cuban
Revolution with the creation of a climate
conducive to the real solution of bilateral
problems. These counter revolutionary elements
benefit from a share of more than $ 20 million
that do not stay in Miami and the U.S.
Government devoted annually to the work of
destabilization and subversion against Cuba.
From the same day of his arrival in the country,
the head of the U.S. delegation was warned by
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on our rejection
of the use of his brief trip to organize a
provocative event, alien to the spirit of
migration talks.
With this offensive behavior to the authorities
and the Cuban people, the U.S. government
confirmed that remain in place the instruments
of the subversion policy against Cuba, shows his
lack of real will to improve ties with our
country and to leave behind the actions of gross
interference, which historically have been the
major obstacle to the normalization of relations
between both countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the
provision as expressed by the Cuban government
of maintain a respectful dialogue on any issue
with the Government of the United States
provided it is among peers, without undermining
the independence, sovereignty and self
determination.
