Procedure for foreign media going to Cuba.

 

If you are a journalist interested in doing a professional job in Cuba, you must obtain a journalist visa at the Cuban Embassy in Doha, Qatar. Our email is embacuba@qatar.net.qa and our fax number is 411 0387.

To obtain a journalist visa, you must present your request to the Cuban Embassy. This request must include some basic informations, needed for the procedures, such as:

- A letter from your media, endorsing your proposal

- A detailed project of the journalist work that you want to do in Cuba (culture, social issues, sports, education, economy, etc). This is particularly important for the Centre for International Press to organizer, in advance, the program of official interviews and visits that you may need.

- Your name, passport number and date of birth (if you traveling with a crew, you must give those details for every member of the staff, specifying their functions: cameraman, sound technician, scriptwriter, and photographer).

- Proposed dates, arrival and departure.

- If you are traveling with equipments (cameras, sound, etc) you must make a list of them, in order to facilitate the procedures with the customer at the airport.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba will be grateful to receive this information with, at least, 3 weeks in advance, to give proper time for the procedures.

The Center for International Press (CPI)

The CPI is the Cuban Institution responsible for giving the accreditations and services to the foreign media, in order to facilitate their professional work in Cuba. They have a key role to organizer a program of official interviews and visits to different official governmental institutions, according to your interests. They can accompany you, for help, to those official interviews and also can expedite your attendance to press conference, fairs, conferences and other interesting events with international coverage in Cuba at the moment of your stay. They can also provide transportation, communications, conference rooms, food, photography and other services that you could need.

 

When you arrive to Cuba for your journalist work, you must go to the CPI for be officially accredited. This accreditation is valid for 90 days.
