The Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin
Khalifa Al-Thani is expected in Havana on
Wednesday afternoon, responding to an invitation
from Cuban President Raul Castro.
The visit takes place after the successful
celebration in Doha, Qatar of the Fourth
Inter-Governmental Commission meeting in which
several important cooperation accords were
reached in health, tourism and other areas.
During the Emir’s visit he will meet with Raul
Castro to discuss the development and
strengthening of bilateral relations and other
topics of regional and international interest
for both countries.
Born in Doha in 1952, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa
Al-Thani has headed Quatar since 1995. He was
bestowed the Jose Marti Order in 2000 by
Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
